19th May 2018 - First charity event is a success!

On Saturday 19th May 2018 amongst all of the Royal Wedding celebrations a group of local volunteers got together to host a charity auction and dinner in aid of Toucan for Children at English Bicknor village hall.

Toucan for Children is a Play Therapy Service based in Mitcheldean working therapeutically with children in the Forest of Dean that are experiencing emotional/mental health difficulties. Its aim is to improve children’s lives by reaching them at an early age when they are at their most receptive to resolving their emotional difficulties and to prevent mental health crisis for children as they reach adolescence.

Just over 90 people from the local area attended the event that saw over 40 promises and items being auctioned off, which had all been donated by local businesses and friends of Toucan and the volunteers. The evening was a success and raised just over £5000 for the local charity.

Toucan for Children and its volunteers would like to say a huge thank you for everyone who donated to and attended the event. The money raised will go a long way in helping Toucan to expand its service to reach as many children suffering emotional difficulties in the Forest of Dean and surrounding areas as possible, to enable them to get the help they so desperately need and ensure they have access to the available funding.
