Toucan for Children Wins BBC Radio Gloucestershire Make a Difference Award

We are absolutely delighted to share that Toucan for Children has been named the winner of the Community Group Award at the BBC Radio Gloucestershire Make a Difference Awards 2026. The award recognises community groups that go above and beyond to improve the lives of others and make a positive difference in their local area.

The winners were announced at a special ceremony held at Pittville Pump Room in Cheltenham, celebrating individuals and organisations from across Gloucestershire who have demonstrated exceptional kindness, dedication and community spirit.

For everyone involved with Toucan for Children, this recognition means so much.

Since our charity was established, our mission has been simple: to support children and young people experiencing emotional difficulties through the power of play, creativity and therapeutic support. Every day we see the difference that early intervention, understanding and compassionate relationships can make in a child's life.

This award belongs to the entire Toucan community.

We would like to thank our dedicated staff team, trustees, volunteers, supporters, funders and partner organisations who help us deliver our services across the Forest of Dean, Gloucester and beyond. Most importantly, we want to thank the children, young people and families who place their trust in us and inspire us every day.

The BBC Radio Gloucestershire judges recognised Toucan for Children's work using play and creative arts to support children experiencing emotional difficulties.

Being recognised alongside so many remarkable people and organisations from across the county is a tremendous honour. The Make a Difference Awards were established to celebrate those making a positive impact in their communities, and we are incredibly proud that Toucan for Children has been recognised in this way.

As we celebrate this achievement, our focus remains firmly on the future. Demand for children's emotional wellbeing services continues to grow, and we remain committed to ensuring that children and young people have access to the support they need to thrive.

The BBC Radio Gloucestershire Make a Difference Awards celebrate individuals and groups who have made an outstanding contribution to their local communities. The awards began during the Covid-19 pandemic and have grown into a nationwide initiative recognising community champions across the UK.
